Okay, so. HoM was an AU-Heroes game that subverted Heroes and villains; our hero Peter Petrelli was working for the company. He'd recruited little Claire and, like Maureen and Joanne, they were close.

But then OMG FIVE YEARS LATER etc etc, and AUs are born: future!Peter ends up in the past! Gasp!

Peter was starting to get the hang of teleporting. He wished the guy who’d given him the gift – Hiro, son of Kaito – was alive to enjoy it himself, but Peter had seen him killed. It had been a pretty black day for all concerned.

Sure, he’d been raised to believe that Kaito and his family were traitors, unwelcome in their “family” – the Company family – but when Peter finally had met Hiro, he really liked the guy.

It was a shame that when they met, it had been under since unpleasant circumstances. But these days, every circumstance was unpleasant.

Another party, another night – or was it supposed to be the other way around? Chuck didn’t think so. The party was the most important thing: the well-dressed bodies mingling by chandelier and strategic mood lighting; the deceptively light and fluffy canapés, the magnums of champagne.

Josh was actually kind of relieved to be here. Maybe the whole communal living experience had never appealed to him before, but it seemed to work now; when he needed somewhere to go to be away from everyone he knew, the communal part didn't seem as resolutely unappealing as usual.
